Sport practice All information is compiled here referring to behaviour (index of sport participation, frequency, kinds of activities engaged in, consumer habits…) and the opinions of the population as regards sport, whether or not they engage in sport. The section is therefore devoted to the demand for sport.

	Organisations and facilities This section groups together everything people need to practise sport: a framework of organisations and spaces (sport facilities and natural or urban spaces). Voluntary, public and commercial organisations. By virtue of their specific characteristics, special sections are also devoted to major events and sport in schools.

The Economy of Sport The necessary information is provided to appreciate the current economic impact of sport. Very little data is available regarding this dimension. The Observatori is at present engaged in conducting the formalities in order to carry out research on the theme. Nonetheless, – and although we cannot provide the corresponding tables for this dimension –, we regard it as expedient to publish the indicators from which to extract information and existing bibliography and other sources of relevant information.

	Training, research and sport professions The growing economic importance of sport has given rise to a broad range of research teams and groups in this fields as well as generating numerous places of work, the information from which is gathered in this dimension.

	National and International renown of Catalan Sport This dimension compiles all information about the performance and activities outside Catalonia of Catalan sportspeople, individuals related to sport and institutions and about Catalonia’s role as host to sportspeople, individuals related to sport, events and sport institutions from the rest of the world.

	The legal and political sport framework The legal and political sport framework: this dimension is a compilation of legal texts affecting the sport system in Catalonia. It also contains the set of programmes, declarations, documents and so on of the various political formations concerned with sport.
