  The Observatori Català de l’Esport is an initiative by the Secretaria General de l’Esport de la Generalitat de Catalunya. The Institut Nacional d’Educació Física de Catalunya (INEFC) runs it in partnership with other organsiations linked to sport in Catalonia.

Recognition to the high sports performance of Catalonia in the delivery of the 2009 ARC Awards

In its ninth year, the 2009 ARC awards have been granted to 181 people in top sport Catalan level: 148 athletes, 30 men/women coaches and three guides of athletes with visual impairment. With these awards, the Generalitat supports the training of Catalan athletes who have achieved international successes during the season.

The first Association of Sports Industries (INDESCAT) is created in Catalonia

The Association of Sports Industries (INDESCAT) consists of over sixty companies and technology and research centers related to the sports area with the primary aim of promoting the development of autonomy, efficiency and growth in the world of sport. This cluster of sports companies in Catalonia will allow improvements in the competitiveness and international projection of Catalan sport.

The Government of the Generalitat approves the Decree on Sporting Organizations in Catalonia.
The new regulations introduced several innovations: such as obtaining a sports license to perform any organized physical activity, gender parity in clubs and federations, legal separation of Catalan and Spanish federations and the modification in electoral processes of clubs.
